    According to legend the City of DeRidder stands where once the largest pine tree grew. The city is proud of its' rich heritage, family values, and cultural and recreational endeavors.They are a designated Tree City and a Main Street Community. DeRidder hosts the Beauregard Parish Fair as well as the annual Watermelon Festival.

    West central Louisiana has some of the finest hunting and fishing in the United States. Lake Vernon, Anacoco Lake and Toledo Bend are excellent for fishing as well as boating.
